UNIT 5: ECOSYSTEMS
In this unit you will learn about:
- Identify the basic characteristics and components of an ecosystem (habitat, population, community).
- Understand and explain the relationships (interaction) between living things: food chains and food webs.
- Identify and explain the causes and consequences of loss of biodiversity (animal extinction and human damage).
- Show respect for living things.
Your final task will be:
In groups you will work on a different ecosystem, you will have to choose a country where you can find that ecosystem and you will have to create a brochure using a power point and some cardboard. You have to include the following information:
- Location (world map).
- Characteristics of your ecosystem (plants, animals (adaptation and interaction), climate and fun facts).
- Endangered species (which human action is damaging the biodiversity of this ecosystem?)
- Food chains (producers, consumers and decomposers) and food webs.
After creating your brochure you will present your work to your classmates trying to convince them to travel to your country.

The fonts are easy-to-read, the size
varies from headings and text. Text is appropriate in length for the target audience and to the point. |
Sometimes the fonts are easy-to-read, but
in a few places the use of fonts, italics, bold, long paragraphs, color or
busy background detracts and does not enhance readability. |
Overall readability is difficult with
lengthy paragraphs, too many different fonts, dark or busy background,
overuse of bold or lack of appropriate indentations of text. |
The text is extremely difficult to read
with long blocks of text and small point size of fonts, inappropriate contrasting
colors, poor use of headings, subheadings, indentations, or bold formatting. |
